FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
The Land of Magic Classic

What is the Land of Magic Classic?

The Land of Magic Classic is a collegiate basketball holiday tournament planned, promoted, and produced by AmeriSport International, Inc. The tournament is designed for NCAA Division III schools. College basketball teams (men and women) contract with AmeriSport to provide for all tournament and travel needs. AmeriSport International is entering its twentieth year of producing tournaments, and is the founder of the Hoops and Hulas Shootout, The Coconut Coast Classic, The Land of Magic Classic and The Monterey Bay Classic. The Land of Magic Classic will be in its fourteenth year! Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the host school, and will be competing in the Men's Division.

What services does AmeriSport provide?

AmeriSport creates a package which includes your ground transportation at the tournament site, hotel lodging in the tournament hotel, breakfast meals, and all game expenses. A per person price is given to your team for participation in the tournament package.

What facilities does AmeriSport use?

AmeriSport negotiates pricing for the facilities we use. While it is too early to tell what lodging facility we will use, it will be a full service hotel with restaurants and pools on-site. In the past, we've used the Hilton Hotel -- Daytona Beach located at the Ocean Walk Village in Daytona Beach, and the Rosen Centre for post-tournament stays in Orlando. For the basketball events we use the Embry Riddle Fieldhouse and the Daytona Beach Ocean Centre -- both are top-notch facilities.

How many games will we play?

Two games will be played. All AmeriSport tournaments are scheduled in a "classic" format, which means that opponents and game times will be announced prior to the tournament. Games are scheduled in this fashion for several reasons, including preventing the possibility of the same conference members playing against each other.

What can we do when not playing basketball?

We expect that our hotel will be near or on the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the activities in Daytona Beach revolve around the water, however, there is the Nascar Museum available, as well as many golf courses. Post-tournament in Orlando, we will be staying on International Drive which allows all participants easy access to Sea World, Universal Studios, Wet & Wild, as well as a wealth of shopping experiences. We have found that most student-athletes rate Universal Studios as their number one attraction. For those that would want to go to Disney Parks, our Orlando hotel will offer transportation, as the hotel is only 20 minutes away from Disney.

What is the cost per person?

AmeriSport has an impeccable reputation with our vendors, which allows us to get great hotel, bus, and meal pricing. We expect our "Land Package" price, which includes everything but airfares to be about $600 per person for the 2009-2010 tournament. Obviously, your distance and air competitiveness from your departure city is what will cause any variations. All teams fly in and out of Orlando, Florida.

What is the daily schedule for the 2011-2012 tournament?

December 27 - Arrive in Orlando, bus to Daytona (90 minute ride)
December 28- Tournament games
December 29- Tournament games
December 30- Tournament games - Depart for Orlando
December 31- Day off in Orlando
January 1 - Depart for home

How do we register our team?

AmeriSport works on a "Good Faith" relationship with all teams interested in registering. If you are interested, we will hold your spot until February 1, 2011, when we will know the final pricing. You are under no obligation. We will send you a "guaranteed price" contract in February, and, at that time, you can decide to come or not. Contracts and a $1000 down payment are required in our office by March 1, 2011, with the final payment due October 1, 2011.

Once you are registered as a "reserved status team", we will send you monthly updates as to the status of the teams who have registered. Your final decision must come by March 1, 2011.
